Many congratulations to James Attenborough on receiving a L&RHA Jo Dyer Distinction Award that we surprised him with this week at training.
James was nominated by MHHC for his dedication to playing hockey after returning from serious injury last season. As his strength and fitness returned James began 24/25 playing for the Men's 3s and by the end of the season he had progressed up the teams to play in a few Men's 1s matches. James is a promising young player and it's fantastic to see his stamina, hard work and talent celebrated by the county.
The Leicestershire & Rutland Hockey Association Schools & Youth celebrate the success of hockey in the county with a number of awards. The Jo Dyer Award is made to a young player who has demonstrated their all round love of the game through playing, umpiring, and volunteering.
Jo sadly lost her life in Basra nearly twenty years ago. She was an amazing young person. She lived life to the full, was an extremely talented hockey player, had a great sense of fun, and displayed qualities that you would want to see in all young people.
This year there were some outstanding nominations for the Jo Dyer Award so the L&RHA Committee decided to make four distinction awards along with the Jo Dyer Award.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
