A number of our fixtures were postponed, but thanks to a mammoth effort from a gallant few, the pitch was cleared of snow in time for our two afternoon matches.

A big THANK YOU to everyone that helped to clear the pitch in the morning so the our matches could go ahead!

POSTPONED MEN'S 1 v University of Warwick 2

POSTPONED MEN'S 2 v Coventry & North Warwickshire 2

MEN'S 3 won 4-0 at home to Nuneaton 2

Goals: Noel Burton (3) & Toby Fletcher

Player of the Match: Toby Fletcher

The 3s returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Nuneaton. Many thanks to the pitch clearers whose efforts meant the game could go ahead.

It took a bit of time for us to settle but Toby Fletcher popped up at the far post to deflect a short corner shot into the net. The 3rd time in a row he has done that, so becoming quite a habit now. Noel Burton slotted another away and Lee Gaterell made some great saves to make it 2-0 at half time.

The team stayed in control the second half with Burton scoring another two goals to make it 4-0. A good overall performance from the team which has helped us move up the table. Another win next week and we should then be safe from relegation.

MEN'S 4 lost 0-3 away to Towcester 2

Player of the Match: Jake Sutherland

The ten men of the 4s had an early start to Towcester for a 10:00 pushback. Promotion chasing Towcester had a strong team but with solid defending from David Wilford and Deep Singh with Ricko Parr marshalling the midfield it took the home team just over ten minutes before they scored after a double save put the ball at the feet of their striker who slotted between the keeper’s outstretched legs. The rest of the half saw Towcester’s midfield create chances that their strikers could not finish and Harborough playing good defensive play and creating chances but unable to capitalise in the opponents D. Louis Dickinson and Haydn Moss on the wings looked for a way forward before Harborough won a short corner with a couple of minutes left. The home defence held tight and remained intact at the break.

Towcester came out after the half with renewed energy and purpose and for once made the extra man advantage pay on the break. Harborough held firm with Jake Sutherland and Martyn Wilkinson finding space and opportunity but there always seemed to be an extra defender in front of Phil Dickinson or Ryan Bacon. Both sides created chances and opportunities, but despite the home side going seeing green and playing with ten men for periods of the second half they held strong in defence. With a little over five minutes left Towcester were awarded a series of short corners and were able to add to the score. In the end the extra man advantage proved the difference between the two teams. On another day it could easily have been a different result.
