MEN'S 2 won 3-1 at home to Berkswell & Balsall Common 2
Goals: Ryan Harrison, Josh Osborne & Ben Langdown
MEN'S 3 won 7-0 at home to Hampton-in-Arden 4
Goals: Noel Burton (3), Toby Fletcher, Richard Goswell & Steven Pateman (2)
The 3s were back to winning ways with an easy 7-0 win against higher placed Hampton. Harborough started much the stronger against 10-man Hampton and looked the stronger even though they are higher in the league.
Steve Pateman opened the scoring with a push on the reverse and went on to score another. Some great movement building from the back from Alex Osborne, Simon Scott and Toby Fletcher opened up Hampton for Noel Burton to help himself to 3 goals. Harborough were 5 goals up at half time.
The team slowed down a bit in the second half, but with Dave Littlewood, Ted Baker and Cameron Smith controlling the midfield the 3s were never in trouble. Simon, Ant Raisbury and Raoul Mercer kept things tight at the back to make sure Harborough kept a clean sheet. Toby managed to be in the right place to deflect a short corner shot into the net, and Richard Goswell also got on the score sheet to bring the tally to 7.
A good win, but we need a few more to make sure we keep away from the bottom of the division.
MEN'S 4 lost 2-4 away to Rugby & East Warwickshire 7
Goals: Phil Dickinson & Richard Parr
Player of the Match: Richard Parr
A depleted Men's 4s travelled away to the fields of Rugby School for a midday pushback against fourth placed Rugby & Warwickshire, who had the luxury of a full team and 4 substitutes. Despite the man advantage Harborough were looking to build on last week‘s performance. Harborough conceded a soft goal but fought back to equalise and then take the lead. Some good attacking and defending saw the 4s hold on to the lead until just before half time when Rugby made the extra man count.
Rugby came out strong in the second half and scored from a short corner. Harborough continued to push for an equaliser but Rugby nicked a fourth. Despite creating chances a tiring Harborough were unable to get any spoils from their labour. Final score Rugby 4, Harborough 2.
