Our results from Saturday!
Men's 1 lost 0-6 away to Nottingham Trent University 4
Player of the Match: Alex Hammant
Men’s 1s continue to build structure and processes despite a difficult game at NTU. Some strong parts of the game and promising league debuts for Louis and Matt. Goals will come!
Men's 2 drew 2-2 at home to Rugby & East Warwickshire 6
Goals: Ryan Bacon & Mateusz Hodgson
Player of the Match: Daniel Perry
After totally dominating the first half with chance after chance we went in with a solo goal. Ryan being in on the keeper, twisting and turning this way and that, for all money looking like another wasted chance, until he somehow managed to slot it in the corner.
Second half we caught the dribble itist disease and kept getting the ball turned over, which saw them not only equalise but move ahead. Last 10 mins saw a great comeback though, with Ricko moving to CF and giving them something to think about whilst Matti calmly slotted the equaliser. Could have won it at the end, Daniel having the keeper dive top left to keep his effort out. Well battled draw against a really talented and well drilled side.
Men's 3 drew 3-3 away to Rugby & East Warwickshire 8
Goals: James Attenborough (3)
Player of the Match: Otto Mackenzie
Women's 1 won 2-0 at home to Wellingborough 1
Goals: Hattie Hammond & Naomi Jack
It was a game of new faces, early goals, and unexpected drama for Harborough today. We came out flying from the first whistle, taking the lead within the opening minute thanks to a sharp short corner routine. Harri’s powerful strike found Hattie mid-air, whose deft deflection left the keeper no chance – a textbook start!
The momentum carried on with some slick passing and great build-up play through the middle and down the flanks. Early in the second half, that pressure paid off again when Naomi coolly slotted one home from the penalty spot after a flowing team move.
But the drama wasn’t over yet. Out of nowhere – and with no one around her – Hattie mysteriously crumpled to the turf, later confirmed to be a broken foot. Down to 10 players, we dug deep, adjusted our shape, and showed solid resilience to hold on to the lead. It wasn’t our prettiest performance, but we got the job done and took home the win.
Speedy recovery, Hattie – we’ll miss you on the pitch (and the deflections)!
Women's 2 lost 1-4 away to Earls Barton 1
